Year-end tax record packages in Ottawa

A year-end tax package turns the accounting file into a clear handoff. We organize balances, supporting schedules and open questions so the return preparer can understand the business without rebuilding its records from bank statements.

Assemble more than a profit report

The package starts with the trial balance or equivalent business summary and reconciled bank, card and payment-processor accounts. It then identifies receivables, payables, inventory, assets and financing as relevant. Prior assessments and return information help establish the opening position.

Owner transactions receive a separate schedule. We distinguish contributions, reimbursements, salary, dividends and amounts still requiring classification. Agreements, payroll records and payment references support that review; a vague drawings account often does not.

A financing example

An illustrative Ottawa business pays $24,000 on an equipment loan during the year. The lender statement identifies $19,500 of principal and $4,500 of interest. The package retains that breakdown with the asset and loan records, allowing the preparer to review the appropriate treatment without treating the entire payment as an operating expense.

Make questions easy to resolve

We provide a concise list of missing documents, unusual transactions and classifications needing approval. Each item links to its evidence and reporting period. The preparer can then focus on the relevant tax issues instead of searching a folder for the source of an unexplained total.

This service prepares the records for the agreed handoff; it does not automatically include T2, T1, GST/HST, payroll slips or registry filings. We identify those responsibilities and dates separately, then retain a copy of the final package and any agreed adjustments.

Questions about this work

Can the package go to my existing accountant?

Yes. We agree the format and supporting schedules required, with your permission for the handoff through the confirmed document process.

Does every business need the same schedules?

No. A sole proprietor, rental owner and corporation have different records. The package is organized around the actual entity and activity.
